Magic has come to Storybrooke, and with it, a whole lot of consequences.

Magic is coming to Storybrooke. Is next season about the battle for the most magic, especially between the Evil Queen and Rumpelstiltskin?
Edward Kitsis: [It's about] why you need it. So, I look at magic more of a currency than an object to fight over. It's why do you need money? Do you need money to buy a house? Do you need money to get something you want? I would say that magic, in a lot of ways, comes with a price. Why do you need and what price are you willing to pay for it? 
Adam Horowitz: Also, that was one of the themes of Season 1, which is magic has a price. In Season 2, it is, what does that price mean in our world?

Because magic has a price, does this mean everyone is in danger now?
Kitsis: When you see the fairy-tale flashbacks, there is magic but there are people who don't use it. ... Not everyone is a practitioner of it, but everyone is used to living in it. But if I have just woken up after a 28-year sleep and I realize that magic's back, I would also start to worry. "Oh no, is the queen and Rumpel going to start doing it again? Are we going to be in the middle? What scores still need to be settled?"

Will we be surprised by certain people who are able to wield magic, like maybe Emma?
Kitsis: That's an excellent question. I would respond with a question. The question is: Can anyone learn magic or does it have to be something inside you?

Interesting. The curse was lifted in the finale and everyone remembered who they were from the fairy tales. How does the show go on in Season 2?
Horowitz: That was the goal. When we conceived the show and when we were lucky enough to get picked up to series, we knew internally we never wanted this to the "breaking the curse" show because we felt like if we did, that we ran the risk of really frustrating the audience. We have a lot of ideas for places we want to take the show, things we want to do with the characters and the mythology of the show. But we felt like breaking the curse at the end of Season 1 should hopefully send a message to whoever's watching to say that the show's not just about that. It's about something else. 
Kitsis: Enjoy the ride.

If Season 1 was about getting to the point of breaking the curse, Season 2 is...
Kitsis: I think that Season 2 is a lot about discovery. The curse breaks and everyone can remember what they lost and what they had and who they are. For some people, it might be a second chance. We'll see who repeats the same mistakes.

Is there a reason that when the curse broke, they weren't all transported back to fairy-tale land?
Horowitz: That question is one that is posed very early in Season 2. That is something that we want the audience to be asking. 
Kitsis: The question is: Is there even anything to go back to? How do we know anything exists? 
Horowitz: All we saw at the end of the pilot was this horrible curse wreaking havoc and then they woke up in Storybrooke. So, what happened? Is there anything left there? 
Kitsis: Right. The person who designed the curse, maybe he never wanted to go back anyway.

How soon will Season 2 pick up? 
Kitsis: I would be so f---ing pissed off at us if we picked up and it was three months later and Charming was mowing the lawn and Snow was coming home with Whole Foods and Emma was like, "Mom and Dad!" ... We are going to open up exactly where everyone wants it to open up. I think that there were a lot of loose threads last season — you know, a lot of those mysteries of like, what happens to August (Eion Bailey)? They will come. I would say be patient because it's all coming.

How will Emma and Snow's relationship be different now that they know they're mother and daughter? 
Kitsis: Well, what's interesting is that Emma has always been the person that Mary Margaret went to. Emma was somebody who has walls up and two people got through to her last year, Henry and Mary Margaret. Mary Margaret truly is probably the only friend she's ever had. But if you notice, Emma is usually giving Mary Margaret advice. Mary Margaret very rarely gives Emma advice. So now, finding out that your mom is Snow White, after searching your entire life, and that she's actually quite a bad ass and she's not the meek, little teacher that you thought she was, that's like you're meeting a whole new person. I think that those complications are going to be a lot about the beginning of Season 2. But we're really, really excited because that relationship really develops in a fun way.

Speaking of family, when Barbara Hershey was cast, there was an option for her to return in Season 2. Will we see her return? Especially considering magic is abound and she's more powerful than her daughter... or is she? 
Kitsis: I mean, to not have Barbara Hershey come back would be such a travesty of Season 2. That is exactly the question. In the episode "Stable Boy," she talked about how she was the miller's daughter and she had to do a lot to keep Regina. If I remember correctly, the miller's daughter was given to a prince because she could spin straw into gold. Therefore, she owed Rumpelstiltskin a baby. The question is, is that baby Regina? ... When you get that Regina is the baby that's promised to Rumpel, then you're like, what did Cora do to get out of a deal with a man who usually kills people?
Horowitz: Right. So there's the connection between Cora, Rumpel, and Regina that we're quite excited to explore. It was meant to be subtle. 
Kitsis: Everyone was like, why does the queen hate Snow? We were able to hide that. Now we're like, everyone go back and look! lKällal

Once Upon a Time star Lana Parrilla has revealed her hopes for season two.

The actress - who plays both Regina Mills and the Evil Queen on the fantasy drama - told Digital Spy that she wants the new episodes to introduce "evil mermaids". "I'd like to see some underwater characters.... be it Ariel or Ursula - maybe they can be evil mermaids," she speculated. "They can be a part of my little entourage!"

Parrilla also discussed the fate of her two characters in the second season, which was officially ordered by ABC in May. "I would like to see how Regina salvages her relationship with her son," she said. "I think that's really important to both myself and Regina the character - I have always wanted to see more scenes between her and Henry (Jared Gilmore)."

Of the Evil Queen, she added: "Maybe [we could see] some backstory with her family life, especially the relationship with her mother and what happened there."

Once Upon a Time star Ginnifer Goodwin has described season two as "a brand-new show".

The actress - who plays Snow White / Mary Margaret on the fantasy drama - told E! Online that fans should expect big changes for the new episodes.

"We're going to remember our parallel lives, so we'll be creating essentially a third character," Goodwin explained.

"They are going to blend the two characters we've already been playing. It's going to be a brand-new show. But I think it will still be all the characters the fans know and love."

1. How much did you know about your role on "Once upon a time" when you auditioned?
Nothing more than what was stated in his entrance, a stranger, rides in on a motorcycle, typewriter inside a wooden box. I created my own character history from that information, and then I had to change it all when I found out who my character was four episodes later.

2. At what point did you learn about your fairytale character? And do you hope to be able to play your character in the fairytale world sometime?
I caught a false statement in the text, something August said that I knew to be untrue, I asked the writers about it and they decided they couldn't keep the secret from me any longer. They had an interesting plan, they were never honest with me about anything, as far as I can tell, which on some level, they must have thought was a clever way to deal with the actor playing Pinocchio.

3. Do you follow the fan theories about the characters and storylines? Do you and your cast mates yourself spin some theories?
Sure, sometimes, I'm happy to hear someone's theory, in person, I like seeing people excited about their own ideas and all the ways it reveals how they see the world, but online there are just too many, it confuses things.

4. Fans of the show pick up every single detail. Does that affect your work as an actor?

Lana Parrilla plays Mayor Regina Mills (and, oh yeah, the Evil Queen) in ABC’sOnce Upon a Time – though meeting her, you’d probably think she was more suited for the role of sweet Snow White. We sat down with the Boricua star to get the scoop on the show, her favorite stories growing up and what it’s like being a Latina in the industry.

‘Once Upon a Time’ is such a popular show, and you play a great Evil Queen. What was the casting process like?
“I originally auditioned for another television show, for (the role of) a trauma surgeon. I had played a combat surgeon (before), so, I was pretty confident that I could nail it. (laughs) There was the first scene (audition) and then there was a long monologue for the second piece. And at the end of the long monologue, the casting director looked at me and said, ‘you have to play the evil queen inOnce Upon a Time.’ And I just thought that was really bizarre because I was auditioning for something else (laughs) but just the title – Once Upon a Time – and the role of the evil queen peaked my interest. I read (the script) and fell in love with the project instantly. (When I auditioned) I read each scene once, and they said thank you very much and I walked out."

Just once? What were you thinking at that moment?
“I felt (the character) kind of in my body, so when I was walking out I felt tall and I felt very confident, but I didn’t know what the outcome would be. I ended up testing and getting the part and I was really, really excited about that.”

What were some of your favorite childhood stories growing up? 
“I loved Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.The Boy Who Cried Wolf, that one really influenced me – ‘Don’t lie!’ They taught me some good lessons that I’ve carried with me. And I’m not a very good liar. Acting is different than lying in your personal life.” 

How so?
“It’s creative, it’s artistic, I’m portraying a role  -- I’m not using my talent and my skills to manipulate people in my personal life. I’m actually a really bad liar I don’t feel good about it, so I don’t do it. Obviously we all tell little white lies, but anything big I don’t think it’s worth it.”

What’s been your favorite scene to shoot or play?
“I think it goes back to the pilot because there was something so fresh and new about the characters. We were just getting to know them and there was something… our focus was different I think, there’s nothing like the first time – nothing like the pilot.”

What made you want to do this? What would you say to those who want to be an actor?
“I started doing this professionally about 15 years ago and I started studying 18 years ago, but this is something I knew I wanted to do at a very young age. I was approached by someone when I was twelve years old. I was with my aunt, and we were sitting at dinner and an agent came up to us and said, ‘if you’re ever interested in acting or modeling, here’s my card please call me.’ And I got so excited! And the minute the guy walked away she ripped (the card) up. And I just thought ‘Oh my god, there goes my dream.’ (laughs) And she goes ‘no, if this is something you want you can pursue it, you have to do the work to get there, it shouldn’t come so easily.’ And this is coming from an aunt who has been in the industry. But I would say to anyone, do the work. Study your craft. Don’t go into this completely blind. And don’t be discouraged. There’s always going to be someone who is prettier than you, better than you in some way, but everyone has that something that makes them different.”

What’s exciting about what you’re doing now?
“I think right now it’s a great time to be a Latina in this industry. There are new opportunities and I think we’re really starting to make a mark. I met Eva Longoriarecently, and she was just the warmest person. And it’s really heartening to see all of these amazing women leading the way for others. I hope it’s a movement in diversity that will continue to grow and open up even more roles and more opportunities.” lKällal
